Robyn to open for Coldplay at the Tampa Bay Times Forum in Tampa
By the end of this summer, Swedish indie-dance queen Robyn will have played Tampa three times in 20 months. Twice, she'll have played the Tampa Bay Times Forum. How is that possible?
Easy: Robyn has fans in high places.
A year after opening for Katy Perry at the Forum, Robyn will return to downtown Tampa to open for Coldplay on June 28. It's maybe an odd pairing, but Coldplay's been feeling very poppy with Mylo Xyloto, whose songs actually wouldn't sound out of place on a Robyn record (see: Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall, Paradise). We may be getting our hopes up, but wouldn't it make all the sense in the world for Robyn to come out and sub in for Rihanna on Princess of China? Come on, Chris Martin -- make it so!
Also opening the show: Wolf Gang. (No, not Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, although, MAN, would we love to see that happen.) The British indie outfit's Back to Back is a slinky goth take on Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing, and even though that sounds like a terrible idea, it's actually an excellent song. Worth getting there early for this one.
The show is at 7 p.m. June 28 at the Forum. Tickets are $46.75-$96.75. Click here to get 'em.
