Saving Abel performing free concert after Saturday's Tampa Bay Lightning game

Lest we forget, the Tampa Bay Rays aren't the only local pro sports franchise that has a postgame concert series.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have quietly (um, perhaps a little too quietly) continued their postgame concert series this spring, with concerts by Nonpoint on Feb. 6 and Seventh Void on March 6.

This Saturday, the series continues with a performance by Saving Abel following the Lighting's game against the Washington Capitals at the St. Pete Times Forum. (What's with all the neo-grunge? Do they think the snowbirding Canadians in the crowd will be turned on by Nickelback-style meat rock?)

The concert will take place on the outdoor plaza immediately following the game, so you don't even need a ticket to get in. If you're a fan of Saving Abel, just show up. If, on the other hand, you want to make a night of it, the game is at 7:30 p.m., and tickets start at $26 on Ticketmaster.

As it happens, your humble Soundcheck editor will be at this game, but not because Saving Abel will be there. It'll be to see Alex Ovechkin.
