The Script to perform acoustic set at the Venue in Clearwater

When he wasn't busy talking about his racist genitalia or Pakistani comics or Jessica "Sexual Napalm" Simpson, John Mayer recently found time to say something about, you know, music.

"Every band with a single this year has a mission: beat 'Break Even' by The Script," he tweeted on Jan. 28. "Oh, yah... good luck."

We're not sure we'd go that far, but Breakeven (which is actually the correct spelling) definitely is a really good pop song, perfectly suited to position The Script as this year's Jack's Mannequin or The Fray.

So it'll be pretty cool when the Irish pop-rock group returns to Tampa Bay on Monday, March 1, for an acoustic set at The Venue in Clearwater, sponsored by 93.3-FLZ. (The Script was last seen in town opening for David Cook at the Mahaffey Theater.)

The doors open at 9 p.m., and cover is an extremely reasonable $3, and there are drink specials all night. Expect a setup similar to the recent Kris Allen set at the Venue, in that The Script are scheduled to play between five and eight songs. Click here for the details.
