SoundBytes: Avett Brothers, Broken Social Scene, Gipsy Kings and more
-- What's gotten into Ruth Eckerd Hall? First they book Jamey Johnson, then Willie Nelson, now the Avett Brothers, above? What is this, Austin City Limits? The always-popular-in-these-parts Avetts will perform March 25 at Ruth Eckerd; tickets are $38-$43 and they go onsale Friday. Click here for details.
-- Speaking of unexpectedly amazing hipster bookings: Broken Social Scene is returning to Tampa Bay! Tickets are $25-$35, and they go onsale Friday. Click here.
-- Hot on the heels of seeing their new album debut at No. 11, Ocala metalcoreists A Day To Remember have booked a blockbuster screamo tour that includes Bring Me The Horizon, We Came As Romans and Piece The Veil -- and according to an announcement from the band, the tour is coming to Jannus Live on April 18. There's no ticket info available yet, but the band says tickets to their spring tour are scheduled to go onsale next week, so we'll see.
-- Is New World Brewery somehow going to become Tampa's next great comedy club? First comes Tig Notaro on Jan. 5, hot off her appearance on Community. (*good one*) Now look for acclaimed anti-comic Neil Hamburger on Feb. 26. Tickets are $10. Click here.
-- Wait, there's a band called the Saint-Petersburg Disco Spin Club? Where can we get a T-shirt?!? (Sadly, they're not from St. Petersburg. Bummer.)
