SoundBytes: Big Gigantic, Van Dyke Parks, John Michael Montgomery and more

-- Funky, sax-driven electronic artist Big Gigantic is coming to Crowbar, about six weeks before they head down to the Ultra Music Festival in Miami. They'll be in Ybor City on Feb. 3; tickets are $15. Click here.

-- We're really getting into this 2012 Beach Boys revival. First we have a 50th anniversary reunion tour. Now we find out acclaimed singer-songwriter Van Dyke Parks, who worked with Brian Wilson on the Smiley Smile/Smile sessions (including co-writing Heroes and Villains), is coming to a uniquely intimate venue in St. Petersburg. Parks will perform Feb. 15 at the Craftsman House Gallery, 2955 Central Ave. A 6 p.m. show is already sold out, but they've just announced a second show at 8:30 p.m.; tickets are $30. For info, contact the gallery at (727) 323-2787.

-- John Michael Montgomery may not be the chart-topper he was in the early '90s, thanks to hits like I Swear and Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident). But he's still worth a drive to Lakeland for a gig at the Boots N Buckles Saloon on Jan. 20. Tickets are $18-$22. Click here for details.

-- Side Splitters in Tampa doesn't steal the Improv's thunder very often, but this is gonna be a fun show, for sure: Darkly twisted magician/comic The Amazing Jonathan will perform there from Feb. 9-11. Tickets are $20-$27. Click here.

-- Does Outasight have any gas left in the tank beyond Find out on Jan. 28, when he performs at Push Ultra Lounge in St. Petersburg.

-- In case you missed it, Colin Quinn has canceled his Jan. 13 show at the Mahaffey Theater "due to scheduling conflicts." Refunds are available at point of purchase.
