SoundBytes: Buffalo Springfield, Joan Jett, Anarbor and more
-- If we were bettors, we'd drop $20 that Buffalo Springfield will bring their planned 30-city reunion tour to Tampa Bay this fall. Why? This quote from guitarist Richie Furay in Rolling Stone: "There have been people from Florida, Chicago and Texas saying to me, 'Hey, you gonna come my way?' I have to say that with 30 shows, we're gonna hit those cities." Furay said they're aiming for small theatres and amphitheatres on this trek. There are no dates set, and no timetable for announcing them, but we gotta say, this sounds like a show that was custom made for Ruth Eckerd Hall. Stay tuned.
-- One rock 'n' roll legend we DO know is coming to Tampa Bay: Joan Jett. The singer will perform at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on July 13; tickets go onsale at 10 a.m. June 13 for $45. Click here.
-- Gotta confess, we've never heard of the Christian worship group Hillsong UNITED. But here they are, planning to play the St. Pete Times Forum on Aug. 5. Just goes to show that we probably need to pay more attention to the world of Christian rock. Tickets start at $25; click here for details.
-- We have to confess, we've never heard of Sarasota acoustic rock act Boyce Ave. But apparently they at one time had a deal with Universal Republic and have toured with artists like Kris Allen. We have plenty of time to get to know them before their gig Sept. 23 at the State Theatre. Tickets are $18. Click here.
-- If you love a trippy but aggressive electronic show with rock elements, check out Infected Mushroom, performing for the first time in Orlando on June 18. The show is at the House of Blues. Tickets are $20-$22. Click here.
-- Okay, we're sorry, but are we the only ones who didn't know that former Miami Heat star Rony Seikaly is a jet-setting world-class DJ? Did you guys know that?
-- Tampa loves to jerk it.
-- Get ready for Nerdapalooza, returning to Orlando from July 15-17.
