SoundBytes: Coheed and Cambria, Robert Randolph, Big Boi and more

-- Sci-fi prog-punks Coheed and Cambria, featuring wild-maned singer Claudio Sanchez, are coming to Jannus Live at 8 p.m. April 15. They're billing this as an "An Evening With" set, so expect a rare 30-40-minute acoustic set to be part of the show. So, y'know, finish your taxes, and then go scream along to A Favour House Atlantic. Tickets are $25-$28, and they go onsale Friday. Click here.

-- Get ready for a rootin' tootin' fun time when Robert Randolph and the Family Band come to the State Theatre on Feb. 10. Tickets are $10. Click here for details.

-- Hey USF students -- do you want free tickets to a show by Outkast rapper Big Boi on Friday (1/14) at the House of Blues in Orlando? Click here.

-- More State Theatre fun: Awnaw and Po' Folks rappers Nappy Roots are coming to St. Pete on Jan. 28. Tickets are $15. Click here.

-- St. Pete's lovely and well-kept secret The Hideaway Cafe has booked another fun act: Veteran folk singer-songwriter Ellis Paul, who will perform two shows on Feb. 12 -- one for all ages, and another for later in the evening. That's the same weekend as Toad the Wet Sprocket's Glen Phillips performs there. Click here for details on both shows.

-- The 'Net's best music festival blog, Consequence of Sound, weighs in on the proposed "Orlando Calling" concert coming in November.

-- Yanni, Barry Manilow, Michael Bolton Kenny G ... and now Lord of the Dance is coming to the Lakeland Center on Feb. 8. And the Oak Ridge Boys are coming on March 1. It's like every lame-music cliche from the '90s is arriving in Tampa Bay at once. Is this penance for Indie Rocktober?

-- If you're planning to check out Cake on Saturday night at Jannus Live, you better act fast on tickets -- they're almost sold out.
