SoundBytes: Counting Crows, Sum 41, Eddie Vedder and more




-- It's a very sad day for friends of the Tampa Bay music scene. Ryan Fujiki-Hastings, above left, a drummer for local bands including Candy Bars -- one of tbt*'s inaugural Ultimate Local Artists in 2007 -- died following a motorcycle crash in Ybor City on Saturday. Creative Loafing and Suburban Apologist! have fitting tributes to Fujiki-Hastings on their respective sites.

-- According to Ticketmaster, Sum 41 are coming to the Ritz Ybor on Dec. 7. Better spin Fat Lip a few times to get pumped up. Tickets are $20. Click here.

-- According to our sister blog The Buzz, Eddie Vedder is among the guests expected at a private fundraiser for President Barack Obama -- who will be in attendance -- on Sept. 20 at the Tampa home of Don Miggs (of the pop-rock band Miggs) and Lisa DeBartolo. -- Counting Crows aren't coming to Tampa Bay on their upcoming tour, but they are playing a relatively intimate venue in Central Florida -- Hard Rock Live in Orlando. Tickets are $35-$73, and they go onsale Friday. Click here.

--Jazz fusion bandleaders Chick Corea and Bela Fleck will perform piano and banjo music together on March 24 at Ruth Eckerd Hall. Tickets are $45-$62. Click here.
