SoundBytes: Counting Crows, Sum 41, Eddie Vedder and more
-- It's a very sad day for friends of the Tampa Bay music scene. Ryan Fujiki-Hastings, above left, a drummer for local bands including Candy Bars -- one of tbt*'s inaugural Ultimate Local Artists in 2007 -- died following a motorcycle crash in Ybor City on Saturday. Creative Loafing and Suburban Apologist! have fitting tributes to Fujiki-Hastings on their respective sites.
-- According to our sister blog The Buzz, Eddie Vedder is among the guests expected at a private fundraiser for President Barack Obama -- who will be in attendance -- on Sept. 20 at the Tampa home of Don Miggs (of the pop-rock band Miggs) and Lisa DeBartolo. Story checks out, since Vedder and Pearl Jam are scheduled to play the DeLuna Festival in Pensacola Beach the very next day. Click here for the scoop.
-- Counting Crows aren't coming to Tampa Bay on their upcoming tour, but they are playing a relatively intimate venue in Central Florida -- Hard Rock Live in Orlando. Tickets are $35-$73, and they go onsale Friday. Click here.
