SoundBytes: Deer Tick, the Whispers, Inner Circle and more
-- We haven't yet formulated an opinion about much-hyped indie-Americana Rhode Island group Deer Tick, above, but New York Magazine likes 'em. Word is they'll be at Crowbar on July 29, with Dead Confederate opening.
-- Big-time reggae show here: Beres Hammond, Inner Circle, Culture and more, July 25 at Jannus Live. Through June 7, you can get tickets for $25.
-- R&B vocal legends The Whispers and soulman K'Jon are coming to the St. Pete Times Forum on Aug. 15. Why are they playing the St. Pete Times Forum, you ask? Because this show is taking place during the national convention of the Ancient Egyptian Arabic Order Nobles Mystic Shrine -- sort of an African-American version of the Shriners -- which is expected to be one of the biggest Tampa Convention Center events in recent memory. Tickets to the concert are $50-%125, and they go onsale at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
-- In case you missed it, America (A Horse With No Name, Sister Golden Hair) and Mitchel Musso (Hannnah Montana) have been added to the lineup for next weekend's A Taste Of Pinellas. Huey Lewis and the News and Martina McBride are still headlining.
-- Want a free ticket to this year's 97X Memorial Day Backyard BBQ on Saturday? Donate blood at the corner of Fifth Ave NE and Beach Drive between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday and you'll get a free ticket. Click here for details.
