SoundBytes: Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Say Anything, John Prine and more




-- Are we ashamed to admit we once bought a ticket to see Mighty Mighty Bosstones and The Offspring back in the late '90s? No, not in the slightest. So we wholeheartedly support anyone going to see the Mighty Mighty Bosstones when the come to the Ritz Ybor on May 4. Tickets are $23, and they go onsale Friday -- or at least, that's the impression that we get. Knock on wood. Click here for details.

-- A cool-sounding Say Anything-themed art show is running this week at Ybor City's Roosevelt 2.0, with a party happening on Friday (3/16). Check it out here.

-- Mike Pinto will return to St. Pete with a show at the State Theatre on May 19. Click here.

-- One Night Rodeo, the winners of Great American Country's The Next GAC Star, will headline the kickoff party to this year's Encompass Insurance Pro-Am of Tampa Bay (formerly the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am), on April 10 in Tampa.  

-- This is fantastic. The Elwins, a Canadian indie-rock group who performed with Jukebox the Ghost on Saturday at Crowbar, wrote a song about Ybor City. They're the new Hold SteadyCheck out the video for it here.

-- This should be a pleasant alt-pop tour: He Is We will perform at the Local 662 on May 11 alongside Deas Vail, Plug In Stereo and South Jordan. Tickets are $12-$14. Click here.

-- According to Ticketmaster, country-folk singer-songwriter John Prine is coming to the Mahaffey Theatre on May 25. Tickets are $37-$59. Click here.

-- This is worth keeping an eye on: A "Downtown Digital" block party/festival with DJs and house music on June 2 at Jannus Live. Details are slim, with no artists announced yet, but The first batch of tickets go onsale this week for $25. Click here for more info.

-- Less than a month ago, Brandi Carlile set an attendance record at the Capitol Theatre with 467 butts in the seats. Over the weekend, Henry Rollins beat that record with 484. Congrats, Henry!
