SoundBytes: Nicki Minaj, Against Me!, Lee Brice and more

-- Is XXL cover girl Nicki Minaj performing at Club Underground in Tampa on Saturday? Sure looks like it.

-- Gainesville's acclaimed Against Me! are about to get a little more acclaimed ... if that makes any sense. Franz Nicolay, formerly of the Hold Steady, is joining the band. Check him out when Against Me! hits the Ritz Ybor on June 18.

-- Country singer Lee Brice -- described in a press release as "ruggedly delicious" -- is coming to the Dallas Bull on June 4, just days before the release of his new album. Click here for details.

-- The Talking Heads' David Byrne is suing Gov. Charlie Crist for $1 million for allegedly using the Heads' track Road to Nowhere without permission. The Buzz has the story, via Billboard.

-- Looks like Brooklyn's Brahms are opening for Passion Pit and Tokyo Police Club at the Ritz Ybor on June 14. Not sure this show can get much cooler.

-- Click here for a free download of a special Record Store Day 2010 mix by the Postmarks.

-- The Skafest 2010 Tour will hit the Transitions Art Gallery at the Skatepark of Tampa on June 12, with a lineup of bands including Angry Banana, the Taj Motel Trio, Paranoia Dance Party! and more. Tickets are $10-$12.

-- Big weekend coming up for former Soundcheck Artists of the Day Orange Hour. On Friday, the Clearwater jam-rock band is opening for Eve 6 at the State Theatre. Then on Saturday, they'll be opening the 97X Memorial Day Backyard Barbecue at Vinoy Park, alongside Paper Tongues, Flobots and more. The other local Backyard BBQ winner is another former Artist of the Day: Misunderstood Superheroes.

-- Tampa Christian rock ensemble EmberLasting is calling it a career.
