SoundBytes: Patton Oswalt, Kottonmouth Kings, JJ Grey and Mofro and more

-- Not that anyone invited them, but Kottonmouth Kings, above, are coming to the State Theatre on Sept. 8. Tickets are $22.50, according to Ticketmaster, and they go onsale Friday. See you ninjas there!

-- Someone we WOULD like to see come to Tampa Bay: Patton Oswalt. The Comedian of Comedy, arguably the best stand-up working today, is coming to Orlando's Hard Rock Live on Oct. 1, according to Ticketmaster. Tickets are $20-$30, and they go onsale Friday. Click here. (And don't worry, we'll let you know if he decides to come to Tampa, too. The way the Straz is booking comedy shows, we wouldn't be surprised if he ends up there.)

-- More Hard Rock Live stuff: Meat Loaf is going to be at Hard Rock Live on Aug. 30. Tickets are $55-$65. Click here.

-- According to their website, JJ Grey and Mofro are coming to the Ritz Ybor at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29. Tickets are $20-$23.

-- St. Petersburg tattoo artist Frankie Donofrio, a.k.a. Frankie D, who inked up celebrities like Paris Hilton and Good Charlotte's Benji Madden, was found dead early Sunday morning in St. Pete. Click here for the story.

-- Look at Laws, hanging with Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem!

-- Been a while since we've had an update on our boy Matt Hires. He'll be touring these United States in September and October, culminating with a show Oct. 22 at the Orpheum in Ybor City. He's also got a new website, and he's releasing a digital EP on Aug. 17 with a new version of Honey Let Me Sing You A Song and two onew tracks. Click here for the details.

-- Nice, if brief, writeup on Have Gun Will Travel on the well-read blog Can You See The Sunset?

-- Tampa's The Boozers are looking to tour in Europe in April 2011. Help 'em out, won't you?

-- Another cool thing Jannus Live is doing: On Friday and Saturday, there are no concerts, so they're opening up the courtyard at 8 p.m. both nights for a straight-up party called The Weekend Hang, with cornhole, beer pong, drink specials and more. If they make this a weekly event, we don't see why this couldn't become the next St. Pete Shuffle.
