-- The Summer of 2011 will stretch into late September -- at least if the beach-rock-reggae-ska groups Pepper (above), Ballyhoo! and the Expendables have anything to say about it. They'll perform at 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at Jannus Live.

-- Prog rockers Dream Theater will perform at Ruth Eckerd Hall on Oct. 22. Tickets are $29.50-$64.50. Click here.

-- Speaking of Ruth Eckerd Hall: According to his website, Christian singer-songwriter Michael W. Smith will perform there on Oct. 26, alongside Amy Grant. No details yet, but we'll keep you posted.

-- In Flames has had to drop out of the Rockstar Mayhem Tour, which hits the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre on Aug. 13. "Due to a serious terminal illness of one the band’s immediate family members they feel they have no option," the tour said in a statement.

-- Some bum news about one of Soundcheck's all-time favorite bands: Death Cab For Cutie will not be stopping in Orlando or Tampa en route to the Langerado Music Festival in Sunrise. Instead, they'll play a show in Jacksonville on Oct. 7. Click here for details.

-- An old friend in the Tampa Bay area, singer-songwriter Lorna Bracewell, will open for Shawn Colvin at the Capitol Theatre on Aug. 12. Click here.
