SoundBytes: Placido Domingo, Samantha Ronson, Vertical Horizon and more

-- Opera legend Placido Domingo, a.k.a. One-Third Of The Three Tenors, is coming to the Straz Center in Tampa on Feb. 24. He's headlining the Opera Tampa Gala, and tickets start at $250. Click here for details.

-- Tampa's new Hard Rock Cafe is still being tight-lipped about the headlining band for their Jan. 12 grand opening ceremony. But at least we know who the celebrity DJ that night will be: According to her website, it's Samantha Ronson. Is it wrong to say we caught her at a Super Bowl party in Tampa in 2009, and we think she's kind of awesome?

-- Roscoe Dash, Shawty Shawty and Buffie the Body are headlining an MLK weekend bash Jan. 17 at Jannus Live. Keep the dream alive!

-- Why are Bruce Vilanch, Michael McGlone, Dawn Wells and Vincent "Big Pussy" Pastore coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall from Jan. 4-8? It's for something called Celebrity Autobiography, but beyond that, don't ask us. Click here to find out.

-- Want to party like it's 1999? Hang out with Vertical Horizon at a New Year's Eve party at Timpano in Hyde Park. She's everything you want! She's everything you need! Click here.

-- Ocala's A Day To Remember have been named one of MTV's Artists to Watch in 2011. Don't forget, they're coming to Jannus Live on April 18. Click here for details.

-- Last year's Talking Animals Festival featured Tampa Bay bands with animal names (i.e. the Equines, the Chicken Chasers). Next year's fest will take place April 3 in downtown Tampa. Click here for details on how to get involved.

-- Want to download an mp3 of Smashing Pumpkins performing A Song For A Son this summer at the Ritz Ybor in Tampa? Click here.

-- Rolling Stone says concerts will be cheaper in 2011. Huzzah!

-- Sad to see such a creative Floridian, Miami's Rachel Goodrich, leave the Sunshine State. She's moving to L.A.
