SoundBytes: Sharon Van Etten, Frank Caliendo, Harry Belafonte and more

-- We very much wish we could tell you singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten was coming to Tampa, but alas, she'll be in Orlando on Oct. 28, playing The Social with Damien Jurado. The Orlando Sentinel says tickets are $13-$15. Click here.

-- Two interesting comedy shows to tell you about. The first is Frank Caliendo on Aug. 24-25 at the Improv in Tampa. That's right before the Republican National Convention, and you know one of Caliendo's most popular impressions is of George W. Bush. So don't be surprised if he's got something special cooking for the RNC. (Tickets are $30-$35; click here.)

-- And then there's Tom Arnold at Side Splitters. He'd been scheduled there a while back, but canceled. Now he's scheduled to play Tampa on Oct. 5-6. Tickets are $25-$32. Click here.

-- Music and civil rights icon Harry Belafonte will be honored for his contributions to the arts and society during a gala on Oct. 6 at the Mahaffey Theater. Click here for info.

-- According to his website, country singer Marty Stuart says he'll be performing at the Largo Cultural Center on Jan. 18.

-- This is cool: Tampa's Tallhart have just released a limited-edition split 7" with British singer-songwriter Ed Tullett, featuring their cover of Peter Gabriel's I Grieve. Click here to listen via Filter magazine, and click here to order.
