SoundBytes: Skrillex, John Vanderslice, Meat Puppets and more

-- Yep, that's Rev Run from Run-DMC, checking out the Cheetah Run habitat with his family at Busch Gardens recently. He's clearly instructing those sucka MC's to call him sire.

-- Is Bob Seger coming to Tampa? According to the Detroit News, yes. But all they'll say is that it'll be sometime this fall (we're guessing at the St. Pete Times Forum), and that a specific date and ticket info will be coming at a later date. He's also supposedly coming to Orlando, too. We'll keep you posted.

-- The Ritz Ybor has already brought you DJs like Deadmau5 and Borgore. Skrillex might be the next big thing for lovers of dubstep, so it's fitting that he'll be at the Ritz on Dec. 16. Also on the bill: 12th Planet, Two Fresh and Nadastrom. Tickets are $26.50-$28. Click here.

-- Can't wait for Mac Miller on Nov. 22 at Jannus Live? Get your frat-rap fill in Orlando on Aug. 24, as Chiddy Bang and Big Sean hit the UCF Arena. It's free for UCF students, $20 for the public. Click here.

-- Interesting venue alert: Indie singer-songwriter John Vanderslice is coming to CL Space, the Ybor City performance space run by Creative Loafing, on Sept. 2. Tickets are $7-$10. Click here.

-- Grunge forefathers the Meat Puppets are coming to Crowbar in Ybor City on Sept. 17. Tickets are $12-$17. Click here.

-- Punk-folk singer-songwriter Langhorne Slim is coming to Crowbar on Sept. 28. Tickets are $11-$14. Click here.

-- The Fixx have canceled their July 30 gig at the Largo Cultural Center due to illness. Stuck in the '80s has the details.

-- If you miss reggae-rockers Passafire at this year's Warped Tour stop on July 31, fear not -- they'll be returning to St. Petersburg with a gig at the Local 662 on Sept. 25. Tickets are $10. Click here.

-- We'd like to see electronic artist Mord Fustang team up with Com Truise. Probably won't happen anytime soon, though, so we'll just settle for Mord Fustang on Oct. 9 at Orpheum. Tickets are $10-$15. Click here.

-- Another Orpheum show to catch: The Joy Formidable, Sept. 25. Tickets are $13.50-$15.50. Click here.

-- It's debatable whether you consider Underoath "Underoath" anymore, given how they no longer have any original members. But they'll be performing Oct. 20 at the State Theatre. Tickets are $20. Click here.
