SoundBytes: Yelawolf, The Ready Set, 'Pawn Stars' and more
-- For this year’s Tampa Pro Party, the Skatepark of Tampa is bringing in hip-hop’s latest Great White Hope: Alabama’s tattooed Michael Wayne Atha, better known as Yelawolf, who spins dark, Dirty South yarns about meth labs and skateboarding. In January, Eminem signed Yelawolf to his label, Shady Records, which led to consecutive XXL magazine cover appearances in March and April. The show is March 12 at Czar; tickets are $10. Click here.
-- First The Deadliest Catch is coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall. Now Pawn Stars is coming to the Straz Center. Yes, Rick, Corey and Chumlee will be in Tampa for an Antiques Roadshow-style show with games, stories and some $500,000 in "purchasing power." Yes, if you ever wanted to get your ass handed to you while negotiating with Rick, this is your lucky day! Click here for the details.
-- The Ready Set is headlining this year's Glamour Kills Tour, which hits Orpheum in Ybor City on March 11. But a prior date commitment will keep them off this particular bill, unfortunately. The new lineup is The Downtown Fiction, We Are The In Crowd, You Me and Everyone We Know, Skyline Summer and Tampa Bay's own Set It Off. Tickets are $16.50. Click here.
-- Local musicians continue to step up in times of need. This show will benefit the family of St. Petersburg police officer David Crawford, who was killed in the line of duty on Feb. 21. It's March 12 at the State Theatre. Click here.
-- Finally: All the best to Dave Hundley of Daddy Kool Records, No Clubs Productions and the State Theatre. He's been in the hospital for a few days, including some in a medically induced coma, but the outlook is good. Get well soon!
