Soundgarden's Chris Cornell coming to the Tampa Theatre

It's fitting that this news comes on the same day the Tampa Theatre is hosting a one-night-only showing of Pearl Jam Twenty.

Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell -- shown above in what appears to be a Summer Stock production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat -- is coming to the Tampa Theatre for a solo acoustic concert. He'll stop by the historic venue on Nov. 5.

As nice as this show is, we can't lie, it's pretty disappointing in that it means we probably won't see a Florida show by the reunited Soundgarden anytime soon. And you better believe we here at SoundcheckCorp. have been waiting for that for more than a year.

As it is, Cornell will probably grace us with a few acousti-fied Soundgarden classics (Fell On Black Days, Burden In My Hand, Black Hole Sun), though we'll get them all without Kim Thayil's monstrous riffage. And we'll also have to sit through his dirge-like reinvention of Michael Jackson's Billie Jean. Ugh.

Nevertheless, we're still adding this show to our calendar. Tickets start at $29.50 and they'll go onsale Friday at noon. Click here for details.
