Steel Magnolia: 'Can You Duet' champs hit the Dallas Bull

Steel Magnolia

If you haven't been following along with the American Idol-ish CMT reality competition Can You Duet, well ... we can't say you blame you. We hadn't been following it either. Nor were we even aware it existed.

But then we heard the winning duo, Steel Magnolia, had local ties -- they're signed to Steele Management, the St. Pete firm behind Ronny Elliott, Rebekah Pulley, the Mojo Gurus, the Ditchflowers, Tailgunner Joe and the Earls of Slander and a slew of other cool bands.

It's a fortunate coup for Brett Steele and company. And starting this weekend, they're making Steel Magnolia -- former karaoke hostess Meghan Linsey and self-described "starving artist" Joshua Scott Jones -- feel right at home in Tampa Bay.

On Friday, they'll be performing alongside Tracy Byrd at the Dallas Bull, 3322 U.S. 301 N, Tampa. Tickets are $9.95 advance, $15 at the door.

You can see Steel Magnolia's winning performance here. But first: Check out Susan Thurston's interview with the reality show champs.
