Steve Miller Band coming to the St. Pete Times Forum for Lightning Launch party

Last year, the Tampa Bay Lightning kicked off their season with a performance by Stone Temple Pilots. This year, they're throwing another concert, though the star is probably a lot more stable than Scott Weiland.

Steve Miller Band will headline this year's "Lightning Launch" party on Oct. 4 at the new and improved St. Pete Times Forum. Tickets are $25, $45, $60 and $92 -- or free, if you're a Lightning season ticket holder. The team will be introduced at the event, so you'll get a good look at Steven Stamkos, Martin St. Louis and Vinny Lecavalier, too. Click here for all the details.

It's not the first concert scheduled for the renovated Forum -- that would be Last Damn Show on Sept. 24 -- but it will be music fans' first chance to see the building in action. But what will the St. Pete Times Forum look like for concerts?

You're looking at it. This rendering shows how an end-stage concert setup will appear at the Forum. Looks about the same, doesn't it -- aside from that cool pipe organ in the upper deck? Let's hope an artist finds some way to make use of that in the future.

Here are a few other mockups of the St. Pete Times Forum -- a restaurant, the venue's new party deck, the concourse, a luxury suite and how it will look during a Lightning game:
