Superchunk coming to Czar in Tampa

For the last time: If you like power-pop and the Buzz Clip video for Sucked Out, you're thinking of Superdrag.

If, on the other hand, you like pioneering Chapel Hill indie rock from the '90s, you're thinking of Superchunk.

We know, we've made that mistake many times in our lives. But we'll try not to get them confused in December, when Superchunk comes to Czar in Ybor City on Dec. 4. Tickets start at just $10. Click here.

According to Reax, this show is part of the Skatepark of Tampa's annual Tampa Am festivities, which in the past has hosted such artists as Del tha Funkee Homosapien and the Hold Steady. Here are some details from SPoT, but the way Czar's luck has been going lately, we wouldn't be surprised to see it move to the Ritz Ybor or somewhere.

Superchunk has been touring behind their first release in nine years, Majesty Shredding. But another interesting reason this show matters: Superchunk's Mac McCaughan and Laura Ballance are the driving forces behind Merge Records, which has released albums by Arcade Fire, Magnetic Fields, Neutral Milk Hotel, Spoon and She & Him, among plenty of other acts that you wish would come to Tampa but never do.
