Surfer Blood coming to Crowbar in Tampa

What's Surfer Blood up to this fall? Oh, you know, nothing much. Just heading out on tour with The Pixies. The usual.

But before they get stuck with that boring gig, they've got some headlining shows coming up -- and one of them is in Tampa.

Surfer Blood will perform Sept. 21 at Crowbar in Ybor City, according to this. Opening the show are the also-exciting Fake Problems and Guy Harvey. Tickets are $10-$12. Click here to get 'em.

The West Palm Beach retro-grunge-punks (picture a much more raw and ragged Weezer) have become one of Florida's biggest indie success stories in recent years, alongside the likes of Twin Shadow and Sleigh Bells (we're counting them!). Singles like Swim and Twin Peaks made them one of 2010's biggest buzz bands, according to everyone from Spin to Rolling Stone. They last played in our area at the State Theatre in September. Said our reviewer:

What Surfer Blood have created is uniquely their own. Each song is full of little twists and turns. They don’t rely on sheer volume to get their point across, but use it in bursts to accent the subtle moods and textures created with just hints of fuzz on the guitars. Live, Surfer Blood delivered on all the hype that surrounds them.

It'll be nice to have them back.
