Tampa police go viral with 'Call Me Maybe' lip dub video
One might have thought Call Me Maybe lip dub videos would have gone away after this summer, when Call Me Maybe actually ruled the charts.
But it's now October, and the Tampa Police Department, of all organizations, is finding viral success with this video tribute to Carly Rae Jepsen's song of the summer, designed to encourage citizens to call the cops if they notice any funny business afoot.
"Police can't be everywhere all the time," said police spokeswoman Laura McElroy. "But citizens are in their neighborhoods everyday, so they will notice something suspicious that doesn't fit."
When residents see something suspicious, police say, they should call. And with that, the idea for the Call Me Maybe parody video was born.
