Tampa's Baroque Boyz release new song '7.0,' raising awareness for Haitian relief and Doctors Without Borders

A year ago, teenage Tampa hip-hop/violin outfit Baroque Boyz were preparing to perform at a Super Bowl party hosted by T-Pain.

Today they're putting their talents to work toward a considerably greater cause. The group has recorded a new song, 7.0, to raise awareness of Doctors Without Borders and other relief efforts in the wake of the magnitude-7.0 earthquake that rocked Haiti on Jan. 12.

The track relies on audio clips from news reports and the Boyz' trademark moody strings and classical sensibilities. The lyrics encourage the people of Haiti to stay strong, and for all listeners to donate -- even name-checking some prominent celebs who have been active in relief efforts:

Seven-point-oh hits hard
Caught all of us off guard
Left many lives apart
Left many lives so scarred
So many people helpin'
Wyclef, Madonna, Clooney
Are just a few of many
Many who's contributing

The goal of the song is to get people to donate to Doctors Without Borders, so here's a link for that. And click here or here to check out Baroque Boyz online.
