Tampa's Lilith Fair lineup: Sarah McLachlan, Norah Jones, Erykah Badu, Martina McBride and more
As previously announced, the resurrected Lilith Fair 2010 will hit Tampa's Ford Amphitheatre at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11 (tickets go onsale this weekend) with 11 artists. They are:
-- Sarah McLachlan: Canadian pop chantreuse, '90s hitmaker and Lilith Fair founder, who's appearing at every Lilith Fair date.
-- Norah Jones (above): Uber-Grammy-winning jazz-pop singer-pianist.
-- Corrine Bailey Rae: Grammy-nominated British songbird whose hits include Put Your Records On.
-- Martina McBride: Bestselling country diva whose hits include Independence Day and This One's For the Girls.
-- Court Yard Hounds: a.k.a. Martie Maguire and Emily Robison from the Dixie Chicks.
-- Sia: Indie pop singer best known for the ubiquitous ballad Breathe Me, featured in commercials and in the series finale of Six Feet Under.
-- Katzenjammer: Quirky jazz-pop-cabaret foursome from Norway.
-- Ceci Bastida: Latin alt-pop singer from Tijuana.
-- Caitlin Crosby: L.A. singer-songwriter and actress who's appeared in shows like 7th Heaven and Malcolm in the Middle.
-- Plus one winner from the Ourstage.com talent search.
Okay. First impressions...
Look, when Lilith Fair puts out an overall lineup as ridiculously stacked as this one, you immediately start thinking about the artists you want to see. Would we have loved to get Cat Power, Emmylou Harris, Lights, Kate Nash, The Gossip and La Roux? Of course.
But Tampa definitely got some amazing acts other cities are bound to covet, such as Norah Jones, who's only playing a handful of acts at the end of the tour. Say what you want about Jones' dinner-party pop, but chica can croon a lovely jazz ballad. And Erykah freakin' Badu!?!? Holy hell! The lady killed it at Bonnaroo '09!
If you like country music, does it get much better than Martina McBride and two of the Dixie Chicks? Okay, yes, you could have gotten all three of the Dixie Chicks, but still.
Personally, we've been waiting to catch Sarah McLachlan in concert since our freshman year of high school, so you know we'll be there. And even if you're not big on Corrine Bailey Rae (we're not), at least you didn't get stuck with Ke$ha or Selena Gomez. Yes, they're on Lilith Fair, too.
And of course, let's not forget the unintentional hilarity of the fact that this concert immediately follows the all-day Mayhem Festival, featuring Korn, Rob Zombie, Lamb of God and more. Ford Amphitheatre cleaning crews better scrub all night on those dressing rooms.
Ticket prices and onsale dates haven't been released just yet, but we're keeping an eagle eye out. For now, you can RSVP at Lilith's Facebook page for ticket info. And keep checking the official Tampa Lilith Fair site for up-to-the-minute details.
***UPDATE***: Lilith Fair tickets will go onsale at 10 a.m. Saturday. They're priced at $31.50, $41.50, $71, $101 and $252. There's also a limited number of "Ladies Night" four-packs of lawn tickets available for $99. Click here for details.
We fully expect to be ducking out of work for this one.
