Tampa's Must ... Not ... Kill set to give Mayhem Fest a taste of 'bloodcore'
As you're thrasing out to Marilyn Manson, Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Killswitch Engage and others at Tuesday's Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival at the Ford Amphitheatre, be sure to get there early to check out the only locals on the bill: Tampa's own Must ... Not ... Kill.
The band -- Kyle Lawrence (vocals), Brad Mader (guitars) Dan Santana (bass) and Brian Jensen (drums) -- is the only local act on the bill. They'll be performing at 2:20 p.m. on the Jagermeister stage.
"We garnered a sponsorship through Jagermeister about a year ago and have been working hard at all our shows to promote them in any way possible, from distributing their promotional merchandise to actually giving away a new Jagermeister/Must...Not...Kill bass guitar we had made," Jensen said. "As far as I know we are the only real metal band in the Tampa area with a Jager endorsement."
In their official bio, the band calls their style of metal "Tampa Bloodcore":
Must...Not...Kill employs the elements of metal, hardcore, death metal, thrash, and grind to achieve a devastating result. ... (It's) in your face with a focus on groove and overall moshability. From syncopated breakdowns with the precision of a sharpshooter,to intense speedy technical passages and blasting carnal wreckage.
That sounds like Mayhem, all right.
The Mayhem fest starts at 2:15 p.m. Tickets are $25-$62.05; four-packs available for $19.75 per ticket. Get all the details here.
