Third Eye Blind coming to the Ritz Ybor
We have made no secret here on Soundcheck that we are unabashed fans of Third Eye Blind, one of the more criminally underrated bands of the past 15 years. They were the first band we ever saw in concert, way back in high school, and we have seen them twice more since.
Today is our lucky day, as it was announced Stephan Jenkins and company are playing at the Ritz Ybor on Oct. 1. Tickets go onsale Saturday at daddykool.com. Time to get ready for 3EB show No. 4.
(If you happen to visit Third Eye Blind's MySpace page in the next day or so, you might notice their concert calendar says Oct. 3. Pay that date no mind; there were a couple of venue and time conflicts, and the band has yet to correct their schedule. The correct date is Oct. 1.)
Back in March, we saw Third Eye Blind at Derby Lane in St. Pete, and we proclaimed Bonfire and Don't Believe a Word to be the best of the new material they played. Well, now that their fourth studio album, Ursa Major, is out, we stand by that statement. Bonfire, especially. That song, which they played on The Tonight Show last week, deserves to be a hit.
We realize we're gushing unapologetically about the band at this point. And we're cool with that. How about you guys? Any other closet 3EB fans out there who are desperately looking forward to this show?
