Thompson Square talk CMAs, Scotty McCreery and married life on the road

There's a story behind Thompson Square's name. But it's not an especially well-thought-out one.

"'Squared,' I thought was mathematical for two, and come to find out, it's not," laughed Keifer Thompson, half of the hot country duo. "Nobody could hear the "D" so we just dropped it. We thought we were going to be crafty, but it was just that much harder to pronounce."

But it kind of works, says his wife and bandmate, Shawna. "Keifer and I are both from real small towns that have small-town squares, so it kind of reminded me of home."

Thompson Square has a huge hit right now with Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not, and they were just nominated for New Artist of the Year and Vocal Duo of the Year at the CMAs. So it's a nice surprise that they'll be performing at a relatively small venue, The Round Up in Tampa, on Friday night. The show is at 10 p.m., and tickets are $15. Click here for details.
