Tom Cruise went to a Poison concert in Tampa while filming 'Rock of Ages'
As the '80s jukebox musical Rock of Ages comes to movie theaters this weekend, the Los Angeles Times had a good idea: What do two real-life hair-metal rockers, Poison's Bret Michaels and Warrant's Erik Turner, think of the musical performances by the film's stars -- including Tom Cruise, who plays rock god Stacee Jaxx?
For the most part, they're fans. "The movie was awesome; it was exactly what I had hoped for," said Michaels, who visted the Rock of Ages set during filming. And in discussing Cruise's performance of Paradise City, he shared this noteworthy tidbit:
Tom is such a rock star. He formed his own character, but really got the Bret Michaels part down to the hat. There are lots of great performers, but you have to have the look, the identity. Listen to Tom singing this. It has such good energy. He hung out at our Tampa arena show, and he’s very intense and sincere, in a good way. When he works on a film, he always gets the part exactly right. And now he’s an ’80s rock god.
Well, Tom Cruise is no stranger to these parts, considering it's the global spiritual home of the Church of Scientology and all. But we didn't figure him for a Poison fan. Wonder how he liked Motley Crue?
