Recently, you might have stumbled across a series of articles in which comic and former MTV star Tom Green decided to take credit for planking, the weird phenomenon of people posting photos of themselves in a weird, stiff, prone position.

It just so happens that when we got Green on the phone recently to talk about his stand-up dates this weekend in Tampa, he talked about planking then, too (although he told us he was doing it in 1989, not 1994).

"I've got video of it. I'd go out in the street, lie down flat on my face with a hidden camera on the other side of the road, and wait for a crowd to form," he said. "You're lying straight on your face, with your nose right on the sidewalk; it's a very odd position that nobody would ever lie in."

Green performs at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday, 7:30 and 10 p.m. Saturday and 7 p.m. Sunday at the Improv in Ybor City. Tickets are $22-$24. Click here to get 'em.

And click here for our full interview with Tom Green, in which we talk about planking, uncomfortable comedy and how one of his most famous stunts may or may not have been ripped off by Banksy.
