Tonight in Tampa Bay: Colin Hay

Men at Work broke up in 1985. But quirky, facially expressive lead singer Colin Hay has gone on to a successful solo career (perhaps to the chagrin of former bandmate Ron Strykert, who was arrested last month for allegedly making death threats to Hay).

On tour, Hay performs graceful originals Waiting for My Real Life to Begin and Beautiful World. The conversational Are You Lookin’ at Me is more playful, pairing slide guitar with a hip-hop beat. And Hay’s never too proud to rework Men at Work hits Overkill, Who Can It Be Now and Down Under.

The show is at 7:30 p.m. at the Largo Cultural Center, 105 Central Park Drive, Largo. $30-$35. (727) 587-6793. And hey, check out our interview with Hay, too.
