Trina, Damian Marley added to Wild Splash 2010 lineup
To be honest, we'd been feeling a little lackluster about the lineup for Wild Splash 2010 this Saturday. Sure, B.O.B. has what might be the hit of the summer in Nothin' On You, but Sean Paul? Omnipresent Tampa people Plies, Lil Kee and Javon Black? It felt like this year's lineup was missing something.
Trina, ever popular in these parts, both for her skills on the mic and her, um, "stage presence," so she'll no doubt be a huge draw. But the more interesting addition is Marley. Of late, he's taken to performing with Nas in support of the duo's joint album, Distant Relatives. They're performing together at South by Southwest, at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, at SunFest in West Palm Beach and at Bonnaroo in Tennessee.
There's nothing yet to suggest Nas will stop by to perform with Marley, but man, wouldn't that be sweet if it happened? Last-minute lineup changes seem to be the name of the game with these shows, so we wouldn't be totally surprised if he showed up.
(Belated footnote: It does look like Sean Paul is off this year's bill, according to the final lineup bill. Fine with us. We'd trade him for Trina and Damian Marley any day.)
One more thing to keep in mind: This year's concert may have moved back to Coachman Park in Clearwater, but Wild 94.1's official pre- and afterparties are staying in Tampa. It'll be at Club Skye in Ybor City. Skye's new Web site sucks, but somewhere in there is a flyer that says the Friday night pre-party could feature "special invited guests" from the bill. Click here for info on the pre- and afterparties.
