UPDATE: The Bravery, Beres Hammond coming to Jannus Landing

As a tumultuous summer winds down, St. Pete's Jannus Landing is pressing ahead with more concerts as it tries to regain its spot as Tampa Bay's top midsize venue.

We just got word about two upcoming shows there: Reggae hero Beres Hammond on Sept. 4 and alt-rockers The Bravery, above, on Oct. 17. This follows news that '80s New Wave industrialists Skinny Puppy will play there on Nov. 28.

The Bravery show has not been formally announced, but the Beres Hammond show has (get details here). It's a return to form for Jannus, which has hosted Hammond numerous times in the past -- but in July, Hammond played the Ritz Ybor, which has swiped several shows from Jannus in recent months.

Despite the venue's troubles, turnout for Jannus shows has remained fairly strong. There were about 800 people at Sunday's Sugar Ray concert, including about 675 paid. And John C. "Jack" Bodziak said he expects the Sept. 6 show by Badfish: A Tribute to Sublime to sell out.

Detroit Liquors, Bodziak's liquor store near Jannus Landing is undergoing renovations (he says it will reopen soon), so if you're looking for tickets to any of these shows, you can buy them online, or head to the Ticketmaster office around the corner from Jannus.

So, um, yeah, apparently Jannus still has some work to do before we can call it a comeback. Motorhead, All Time Low, Robin Trower and Johnny Winter have all moved their concerts. Click here for details.
