UPDATE: Following heart attack and coma, Gallagher returning to the stage April 4 at the Tampa Improv

(***UPDATE*** After a second heart attack in less than a month, Gallagher has gone into semi-retirement, canceling his April 4 show at the Improv. So feel free do disregard the following.)

Melon-smashing comic Gallagher is one of Tampa's favorite hometown homeboys, and one of the University of South Florida's most famous graduates. So we all got a little worried recently when he suffered a heart attack at a bar in Texas and was placed in a medically induced coma.

But almost as soon as he was revived, he was telling jokes -- and now it appears he's already ready to get back on stage.

Gallagher is booked for a one-night-only performance at the Tampa Improv in Ybor City on April 4, and the folks at the Improv (and Gallagher's own website) indicate this will be his first performance since the heart attack and coma. Showtime is 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $22. Click here for details.

While we're on the topic of the Improv, this is a good opportunity to update you on some other notable comedians coming to Ybor City in the next few months:

The Improv's calendar has a way of changing around, often at the last minute, so be sure to check their website before you make big plans around any of these shows.
