UPDATE: Iron Maiden coming to the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa
Anyone who attended last year's Judas Priest concert at the St. Pete Times Forum will gladly tell you that classic metal is not dead. Then they will punch you in the throat, grab your shoulders, scream "METALLLLLL!" and go do donuts in a mall parking lot.
These are the people who will be thrilled to know that Iron Maiden is reportedly coming to Tampa in 2011.
According to their website, Iron Maiden is launching a staggeringly massive world tour in February -- 29 shows on 26 days in 13 countries on 5 continents, all in 66 days -- and Tampa is one of one of only two American dates on the list so far. (The other is in Sunrise.) They're scheduled to hit the St. Pete Times Forum on April 17.
There's no onsale date or ticket prices for the Tampa gig yet, but
Ticketmaster has details on the Sunrise show
. Tickets start at $49.10, and they go onsale Nov. 29. We'll update you when we hear something about Tampa tickets.
***UPDATE*** According to Ticketmaster, tickets to the Tampa show will cost $32.25-$55 (plus service fees), and will go onsale Saturday, Dec. 4. Click here for details.
For you kids out there, Iron Maiden are one of the top British heavy metal acts of all time, and one of the most influential bands of the early '80s. They released 31 albums, including The Number of the Beast, featuring hit Run To The Hills. But Iron Maiden wasn't about hits, dude! They were about rocking the eff out, and making albums with skeletons on the cover!
Coincidentally, this concert will take place the day after Lady Gaga performs at the Forum. Oh, to be a fly on the wall as the Forum transitions the stage from one show to another ...
