UPDATE: Lady Gaga cancels tour, including March 13 concert at Tampa Bay Times Forum
Bad news, Lady Gaga fans: It looks like the singer is going to have to miss a lot more tour dates than initially thought.
According to the Associated Press, Gaga has been ordered to cancel the remainder of her Born This Way Ball Tour due to a hip injury. That would include her March 13 date at the Tampa Bay Times Forum.
The AP quotes a Live Nation press release that states Lady Gaga will need surgery to repair a tear in her right hip. This week, Gaga announced via Twitter that she'd have to postpone shows in Detroit, Chicago and Hamilton, Ontario due to synovitis, a severe joint inflamation.
"After additional tests this morning to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip caused by strenuous repetitive movements in her performances," reads a statement from her website, LittleMonsters.com, according to Billboard. "She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict down time to recover. This unfortunately, will force her to cancel the tour, so she can heal."
There's no word from the Forum about tickets, though reports say ticketholders will receive refunds.
We'll update you when we know more.
***UPDATE*** The Tampa Bay Times Forum has issued a statement confirming the cancellation. "Refunds for the cancelled performances will be avaliable at point of purchase starting Thursday, February 14, 2013."
Happy Valentine's Day, Little Monsters.
