UPDATE: Underoath announce farewell tour; final show at St. Petersburg's Jannus Live on Jan. 26

One of Tampa Bay's most prominent musical exports, Christian metalcore outfit Underoath, is calling it quits.

You could be forgiven for thinking this actually happened years ago. Underoath has weathered quite a bit of turnover over the years; in fact, the group parted ways with its sole remaining founding member, drummer-vocalist Aaron Gillespie, in 2010. And if a band no longer has any of its remaining members, is it still the same band?

Either way, the fact that Underoath, a twice-Grammy-nominated group that has sold more than 1.3 albums over 15 years, is breaking up is newsworthy. So is this: They've announced a farewell tour, and the final stop -- for now -- is Jan. 26 at the Ritz Ybor in Tampa (UPDATE: See below.) alongside mewithoutYou, As Cities Burn and Letlive. (Whether this actually ends up being Underoath's final show remains to be seen; for now, though, it's the last one scheduled -- and it would make sense to end things at home.)

“It’s sad to say that we feel like it’s time to close this chapter, but we have never seen things more clearly,” vocalist Spencer Chamberlain said in a statement on the group's Facebook page. “These have been the best years of my entire life, and I owe that to every single person who ever supported this band along the way. This wasn’t a quick decision by any means. It’s just time for us to move on.”

The group will leave with one last look back, releasing the career-spanning collection Anthology 1999-2013 on Nov. 6.

Pre-sale VIP tickets to the show are scheduled to go onsale Wednesday for $50, which includes a vinyl album and poster. Click here for details. No word yet on the availability of general admission tickets.

***UPDATE*** Do to overwhelming demand, this show has been moved to Jannus Live in St. Petersburg. Tickets are now very, very scarce. Click here for info.
