USF Homecoming 2011: Chiddy Bang, Cool Kids, Eddie Griffin lead SuperBull XV concerts

In years past, the University of South Florida has booked some pretty major acts for its homecoming week, known annually as the "SuperBull." We're talking acts like Lady Antebellum, Ludacris and Flo Rida.

This year, for SuperBull XV, USF is going back to the hip-hop well with a slate of cool young artists on Oct. 21. Foremost among them: The uber-slick duo Chiddy Bang (above), an outfit we've been hoping would come to Tampa for a long time. Joining them are the Cool Kids, last seen performing with Lil Wayne in Orlando; young hoppers Travis Porter, who are also booked for Wild 94.1's Last Damn Show on Nov. 18; and white-boy flavor of the day Hoodie Allen. (If only they could have booked Mac Miller, Das Racist, Kid Cudi and Childish Gambino, this could have turned into the campus-friendly hip-hop version of Bonnaroo.)

USF's homecoming shows are usually free and open to the public. This one will take place from 8 p.m. to midnight Oct. 21 in the Meadows, at the corner of 50th Street and Holly Drive at the Tampa campus. It follows the annual homecoming parade, which starts at 7 p.m.

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. On Tuesday, Oct. 18, there's a big comedy show featuring Eddie Griffin and Lavell Crawford, a.k.a. Huell from Breaking Bad. (Is it just us, or do Crawford, Bill Burr and Bob Odenkirk need to launch a Breaking Bad comedy tour, like, pronto?) This show starts at 8 p.m. at the USF Track and Field Stadium -- but if it's anything like the recent USF Round Up, which this year brought Ralphie May to the Track and Field Stadium, it'll be open only to USF students, faculty and staff.
