The Venue closes in Clearwater
If you're wondering why we haven't brought you any news about DJs, rappers and celebrities bringing their talents to The Venue in Clearwater recently, here's your explanation.
The Venue, a sprawling multi-level nightclub on Ulmerton Road, has closed amid myriad financial difficulties. It is being sold and may reopen, its previous owners say, but a sale is taking longer than expected.
This is a blow to the live music scene, in that theclub had, in the past year, expanded its stage in order to bring in more live performances. In addition to its wildly popular service industry night on Mondays, DJs like Avicii, Steve Aoki, Paul Oakenfold, DJ Jazzy Jeff, LMFAO's Sky Blu and Jersey Shore's Pauly D have all performed there. But so have pop, hip-hop and even a few rock acts, such as Flo Rida (above), Iyaz, Paper Tongues, The Script, Miguel, George Clinton, Modern English and Vanilla Ice. Heck, in 2009, Diddy threw his Super Bowl party there.
