Victor Wooten, Dr. Hook, Lee Boys coming to Largo Cultural Center

Well, look who decided it was time to start booking some big-boy acts. The Largo Cultural Center, which is best known for staging family-friendly and oldies-leaning plays and musicals, and which has been featuring tribute bands all fall, will be offering a few real-deal concerts in the coming months.

World-renowned Bela Fleck and the Flecktones bassist Victor Wooten will perform at the Center with Miami funk-gospel collective the Lee Boys at 7 p.m. Sept. 27. Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 day of show.

Then on Jan. 16, Dr. Hook (The Cover of the Rolling Stone) will perform with Ray Sawyer. Tickets are $30-$35; group discounts available.

And lt us not forget, WMNF is preparing a 30th anniversary re-creation of Pink Floyd's The Wall, featuring local bands like the Vodkanauts. Tickets are $17-$20.

All three shows come on the heels of a spring concert at the Largo Cultural Center by Men At Work's Colin Hay. It's not like they're booking the Yeah Yeah Yeahs or anything, but at least they're attempting to edge their way into this millennium. Get details on all of them here.

And lest you think the Center is going entirely to the kids, fear not: Forever Plaid is still scheduled for Oct. 9-11.
