Vince Gill, Amy Grant coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall

Great news for anyone who looks like Vince Gill (i.e., Commander Cool, a.k.a. me): Vince and his lovely wife Amy Grant are coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall.

According to Vince's website, the Family Gill will bring their fifth holiday tour, "The Twelve Days of Christmas," to a handful of cities in the Southeast, including Clearwater, Sarasota, Melbourne and Fort Myers in December. Nothing says a classic country Christmas like a trip to sunny F-L-A.

The Ruth Eckerd Hall show is set for Dec. 11. No official word on tickets yet, but we'll let you know when we hear something.

It'll be my Vince's second trip to Ruth Eckerd Hall this year. The man's a world-class musician. And hey, Amy Grant's pretty awesome herself, as anyone who's had the songs Baby Baby, Every Heartbeat and Good For Me stuck in their head since 1992 can attest.

Unfortunately -- or perhaps fortunately, depending on how you feel about the song Jingle Bells -- you won't get to hear most of their hits, as the couple's Christmas shows tend to feature, y'know, Christmas music. And Grant and Gill have a lot of it -- they've released 10 holiday albums between them.

Your humble Soundcheck editor, who can be a bit of a grinch when it comes to holiday music that wasn't produced by Run-DMC or Sufjan Stevens, is not sure this is a show for him. Maybe he'll just hang outside Ruth Eckerd Hall offering to pose for photos with Vince Gill fans, like the Naked Cowboy.
