Wanee lineup: Further, Allman Brothers Band, Bruce Hornsby and more lead 2012 bill

Last year's Wanee Festival at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak had one of its better lineups in recent memory, reminding everyone that it's the standard bearer when it comes to jam fests in the southeastern U.S., now that Bonnaroo has gone all indie (and pop). Robert Plant, the Allman Brothers Band and Widespread Panic led the bill.

There's no Robert Plant on the lineup for Wanee 2012, but it's still a doozy. The 2012 Wanee lineup, unveiled Monday, includes Bruce Hornsby (above), the Allman Brothers Band, Further (the Grateful Dead post-band including Phil Lesh and Bob Weir), The Mickey Hart Band (featuring the former Dead drummer), Buddy Guy, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Gov't Mule, The Doors' Ray Manzerek, North Mississippi Allstars, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Devon Allman's Honeytribe, Electric Hot Tuna, Leftover Salmon and many, many more.

This year's Wanee festival runs from April 19-21. From Jan. 20 to Feb. 19, you can get three-day general admission tickets for $189.50; after that, the price goes up. VIP tickets are $425. Prices for single-day tickets were not immediately announced.

50 Concerts

50rockWhy would anyone voluntarily attempt to see 50 concerts at 50 different venues in a single summer? Jay Cridlin shrugged and thought: Eh, why not.
