The rise of festival culture was our pick for the No. 1 local music story of 2012. And while Florida's music festivals keep growing bigger and better every year, there are a few standbys that always stand out. Like Ultra in Miami. Or the Fest in Gainesville. Or the Wanee Music Festival, a massive jam-band event from April 18-20 at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak.
The lineup for this year's Wanee is out, and it includes some powerhouse blues, jam and rock outfits: Allman Brothers Band, Widespread Panic (above), Gov't Mule, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Leon Russell, Tower of Power, Les Claypool, Maceo Parker, Blackberry Smoke, North Mississippi Allstars, Hot Tuna and many, many more. The Allmans and 'Spread will play both Friday and Saturady nights.
