We the Kings added to Rays Summer Concert Series
The Tampa Bay Rays did it in 2008, and things worked out pretty well for them that year. So they're doing it again this year.
Just as they did two summers ago, the Rays are adding Bradenton pop-punk quartet We the Kings to their Summer Concert Series. The band will perform in concert on Friday, May 28 following the Rays and White Sox. As usual, the concert is free with a game ticket. (The May 29 postgame concert featuring Hall and Oates is still on.)
Unlike most postgame concert acts, We the Kings are actually Rays fans -- right up there with John Cena, Hulk Hogan and Dick Vitale as the most famous ones we've got. When the Rays started winning in 2008, the band got to talk all kinds of smack to Yankees and Red Sox fans on the Warped Tour.
"It was like, 'Hey, the Rays are doing pretty incredible this season. What's your team doing?' And they couldn't say anything back," singer Travis Clark told us in 2008. "It was awesome."
