Normally in this space, you'd be seeing an Artist of the Day. Not this week. This week we're hopping into the Wayback Machine for a look at the best stories, best concerts and WTFfiest moments in Tampa Bay music from 2011.

We'll kick things off this morning with our annual countdown of the Top 10 Local Music Stories of 2011 (click here for the 2009 and 2010 versions). We'll also rank some of our favorite local concerts of 2011 (click here for 2009 and 2010). And we'll give you the chance to weigh in on some of the weirdest appearances of the year.

First, let's look back at some of the local music stories that didn't make the cut in our top 10 for 2011:

-- The Tampa Tribune sacks pop music critic (and local musician in his own right) Curtis Ross.

-- Buju Banton: Guilty as charged.

-- USF gets two Grammy nominations: One for jazz professor Chuck Owen, the other for a group of choral students.

-- Blues legend Eddie Kirkland dies following a gig in Dunedin.

-- Iron Maiden make Tampa one of two American tour stops in 2011.

-- Ralphie May nearly dies from pneumonia in Tampa.

-- Charlie Sheen brings his winning ways to the Forum.

-- Jannus Live partners with MacDinton’s Irish Pub.

-- After violence erupts, Empire shuts down in Ybor City.

-- Pulp the Party says farewell.
