This weekend: Darude leads Vinyl Music Festival 2011 in Sarasota
We're three years into the oddball experiment known as the Vinyl Music Festival -- seriously, a four-day electronic music festival in stodgy old Sarasota? Who saw that coming? But we have to say, it really seems to be working.
The 2011 Vinyl Music Festival runs Thursday through Sunday at venues around Sarasota. With the help of the Sarasota Film Festival, which also begins on Thursday, this will probably be the biggest VMF to date.
One big reason? Organizers landed their biggest headliner to date: Finnish trance DJ Darude, whose smash hit Sandstorm was one of the most played electronic music songs of the past decade. You've heard it somewhere, we assure you. His show is at 9 p.m. Saturday at Michael's On East, 1212 Southeast Ave., Sarasota.
Four-day tickets to the main events are $40; VIP tickets are $80. Click here to get them.
