This weekend: Squawk, talk and rock at WMNF's Talking Animals Festival
WMNF 88.5 FM is known for hosting outside-the-box concerts. But this weekend, the station will put on a musical event that’s unusual even for itself.
Sunday afternoon, WMNF will host its first Talking Animals Festival at Lowry Park Band Shell. The festival was inspired by the station’s Talking Animals, a show highlighting animal issues and animal-themed songs and artists.
Throughout the afternoon, the band shell will showcase about a dozen local musical acts, including animalistic artists like the Chicken Chasers (above), the Equines, Large Mammal and Pete Gallagher, host of WMNF’s Florida Folk show and an expert on Florida panthers. All the songs will be animal-themed originals or covers. Think Blackbird by the Beatles and Boris the Spider by The Who.Click here to read Dalia Colon's story about the Talking Animals Festival.
