This week's Live Nation ticket deals might be worth a look
After last week's devastating indictment of Live Nation's kinda wishy-washy summer No Service Fee Wednesdays ticket deals, we here at Soundcheck frankly thought Live Nation would have disbanded by now, and its executives would have retired to whimper under their beds at night, wondering how their hash had been so thoroughly settled by a single heroic music blogger.
But not so. In fact, Live Nation has upped the ante by offering even better deals this week.
For today (Wednesday) only, Live Nation is offering $10 lawn tickets and $15 reserve tickets, with no service fees -- no foolin' this time -- to concerts at sheds across the country. At Tampa's Ford Amphitheatre, that means sweet deals at the following shows:
Aug. 14: Def Leppard, Poison and Cheap Trick
Sept. 4: Depeche Mode
Oct. 30: REO Speedwagon and Styx
This being Live Nation and all, we looked for a catch, and inevitably, we found one: Those $10 lawn tickets don't seem to be offered at all of these concerts. Some are reserved seats only. But hey, who's going to quibble over that final $5 off? It's a hell of a deal either way.
If you're thinking of going to any of these concerts, you'd better buy Wednesday, because Pollstar says this is the last week Live Nation will offer these ticket deals.
It's not their final consumer-friendly move of the summer, though. All throughout August, Live Nation is offering one of the most ridonkulous giveaways in live music history: A one-year pass good for every concert at every North American Live Nation venue, starting Jan. 1. In Florida, that includes the Ford Amphitheatre, the House of Blues in Orlando, the Cruzan Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach and the Fillmore Miami Beach.
In addition, Live Nation will also give away one "Ultimate Local Venue Pass" in 38 markets -- including "North Florida," which includes Tampa and Orlando.
To win the grand prize, start following @LiveNation on Twitter, and send them a tweet with the hashtag #LiveNationUltimateAccess. To win the local contest, follow @LiveNationNFlor (or @LiveNationSFL, for the shows in Miami and West Palm) and send a message with hashtag #LiveNationUltimateAccess.
