Welcome to Soundcheck's end-of-2009 spectacular!

Hey, remember that time when Bruce Springsteen crotch-thrusted his way into America's heart during this year's Super Bowl? Fun times, that. And it happened right here in Tampa!

Actually, a lot of stuff happened this year in Tampa's local music scene. There were some great concerts (lots of hype about U2), some great albums (lots of love for Sons of Hippies and Have Gun, Will Travel), some epic performances (we're looking at you, Maxwell) ... and Soundcheck launched, which is clearly the biggest news of all. Right? (crickets) Moving on.

Over the next three weeks, settle in for a long winter's nap, because we're going to dish out the best of 2009 in the Tampa Bay music scene here on Soundcheck. Some highlights will include:

-- The top 10 local music stories of 2009.

-- The best Tampa Bay concerts of 2009.

-- The best local albums of 2009 -- both our favorites, and picks from local musicians, as well.

Plus, since it's the end of the decade (and no, we don't care if you think the decade actually ends in 2010, we say it ends in 2009, END OF STORY), we've asked some local scenesters to weigh in with some of their memories of The Aughts, and some predictions for The Teens. Man, that sounds weird.

We've got a few other surprises up our sleeves, as well. But for now, let's start with a question: What were YOUR favorite Tampa Bay musical moments of 2009? Favorite CDs, concerts, performances, artists ... you name it. We want to know what you think, so leave your ideas in the comments.
